In a session, the basic task of the therapist is to make the child to learn how to talk by experiences and feelings. Then, the therapist will point out the problems and would recommend methods of coping up with them. At the end of the session, a task will be assigned to the child for completion. This will form the basis of discussion for the next session.
Your child will be asked to maintain a diary of his/her thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with respect to difficult/stressful situations. In the upcoming session, these are discussed very deeply with the therapist. The discussion might be about how rational are his/her feelings of stress. With more similar discussions, the therapist will make your child learn how to convert the thoughts of fear into fearless and positive thoughts.
