There are three basic known strains of the HIV virus which is the virus that causes aids. These strains of the virus are thought to have originally come from chimpanzees. There have now been reports of a new HIV strain that has been discovered in a woman originating from Cameroon which is a one of the nations of Africa. The woman is said to have been diagnosed with the HIV virus around 2004 after moving from Cameroon to Paris.

Reports indicate that while it is believed that the medications used to treat the previously known strains of the HIV virus will also be effective on this new strain, standard tests used to detect these traditional strains of the HIV virus are not reliable in detecting the newer versions of this condition.

While the known variations of the HIV virus are said to originate from chimpanzees it is believed that this recently discovered variation is the same as that found in local gorillas in the area of western Africa.

Although the new HIV strain is believed to originate from gorillas the woman that was diagnosed with this infection reports that she had no contact with area gorillas or any wild meat from the area. It is suggested that she may have contracted the disease from another individual that may have been infected as she indicated that she had sexual contact with several different individuals.

It is unknown the exact nature of the transmission of this virus from animal to human but scientists have not ruled out the possibility of gorillas somehow transmitting the virus to humans. Another theory indicates that the virus may have somehow progressed from chimpanzees to infect both gorillas and humans though it has not been determined exactly how this may have happened.

At this time it has not yet been determined how far this particular variation of the HIV virus has been spread it may still be somewhat limited to the area of Cameroon or may even be in other areas and still be undetected. Research indicates that this strain of the HIV virus has a fast rate of replication and may be easily adapted to the cells of humans.

Although this new HIV strain is difficult to detect because of the differences from the known strains of HIV, the symptoms that infection of this HIV virus is most likely similar in relation to the symptoms of the known variations of the HIV virus. This is the most likely reason that it is believed by medical professionals that the traditional medications will also be effective in treating this strain as well.

Scientists and researchers have indicated that there may be ongoing monitoring of the areas of western Africa in an effort to discover other reports of possible infections of this new variation of the HIV virus in order to determine how far it has spread and how serious the problem has become. This is a necessary step to determine how likely it is that the new strain has traveled beyond its original place of discovery.

HIV also known as the human immunodeficiency virus is an infection of the immune system that causes a person’s system to be unable to fight off diseases and infections. Although HIV is not aids it is directly linked to aids and will cause this infection to develop over a period of time.

Although HIV symptoms in women may not always be present in the very early stages they most commonly show in ways that may not be directly associated with the HIV virus. In many cases the symptoms that present themselves a short time after exposure to the HIV virus are so subtle that they are not immediately detected. Some of the most common symptoms that may be exhibited in this early stage of infection may include abnormal pap smear exams, recurring or extreme vaginal infections and difficult to treat infections of the pelvis region also known as PID or pelvic inflammatory disease.

Even though these are some of the most common symptoms of HIV infection in women they are not the only symptoms that may manifest in relation to this condition. Some other symptoms that may also be present include yeast infections that keep coming back, ulcers or warts of the genital area as well as severe herpes infections.

Other HIV symptoms in women that are commonly found may present themselves as symptoms similar to those of the flu. These symptoms may be noticed within weeks of infection or may not surface for many years.

In addition to these symptoms some other signs that may be seen in relation to infection of the HIV virus may include things like loss of appetite, diarrhea, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, fever with night sweats, white spots in the mouth and swelling of the lymph nodes particularly those that are located in the neck, under the arms and in the area of the groin.

In order to determine if you have been infected with the HIV virus it is very important to be tested for the virus. Even if you do not have the HIV virus it is still a good idea to be tested on a regular basis in order to detect any future infection at the earliest possible moment. This is especially true if you are in any of the increased risk groups for becoming infected with the HIV virus such as being diagnosed with sexually transmitted diseases as well as tuberculosis or hepatitis. Receiving blood transfusions or clotting agents during the years of 1978-1985 may also put you in the increased risk group for being infected with the HIV virus because this was before these bodily fluids were regularly tested for the virus.

Although HIV symptoms in women as well as men are often similar these symptoms that are specific to women in many cases are not always immediately noticed as being symptoms of HIV infection because they can also be caused by other conditions as well. This is one of the reasons regular testing is so important to detect the presence of HIV infection.

Drug and alcohol abuse is a very serious problem that seems to be increasingly growing out of control. Though many feel that this is a choice that people make it is in fact a disease and there are many reasons that may start the process. Some of these reasons may include things like:

Depression

Low Income

Heredity

Peer Pressure

Escape

Although there are many other factors that cause people to turn to drugs or alcohol these are often some of the most common ones. How a person reacts to different issues depends on a lot of things and how each person chooses to cope with the issues of everyday life often varies from one person to another.

Depression is a medical condition that affects many people and in a lot of cases people affected by this condition turn to drugs and alcohol as a way of dealing with the overwhelming sadness that plagues them. This is often how drug and alcohol abuse starts because it gives a false sense of feeling better. Many times when a person is on a high or intoxicated they think they feel better but then that feeling wears off and pretty soon they are on a downward spiral that they cannot control. As time goes by it takes more and more to achieve this same feeling.

In families that are low income individuals tend to lean toward drugs or alcohol as a way to forget even for a little while about their lack of money or inability to provide a better life for themselves. Although this doesn’t really help people tend to not have to think so much about these issues when they are under the influence.

In some cases people drink or turn to drugs simply because their parents or some other family did and they believe they can’t escape the process. The truth of the matter is it takes a lot of strength and will power to turn away from drugs and alcohol especially in situations like this.

Peer pressure is one of the top reasons that many people become victims of drug and alcohol abuse. Peer pressure is a very powerful thing especially in children and adolescents and many of these individuals give in to this pressure as a way of fitting in with certain crowds.

Some individuals see drugs or alcohol as a way of escaping the reality of their lives. This is especially true when those lives involve a difficult or painful home life. In many cases this home life may include violence or other issues that a person feels they must find a way or means to escape from. In these cases drugs or alcohol may be seen as a way of leaving the violence for a while.

Many people do not understand when they become involved with drugs or alcohol that it is only a temporary solution to their problems. It may seem that this helps the problem but in truth the problem is still there long after the effects of the drugs or alcohol have worn off.

Alzheimer’s disease also known as AD is one of those peculiar diseases that can last for many years. In some cases a person may have this disease for quite some time without even realizing it. This is because many of the early signs of Alzheimer’s disease are often associated with being the result of simple old age. Although this may be true in some circumstances it is not always the case.

AD is a disease that tends to progress slowly and exhibits a decrease in coordination abilities usually over a seven to ten year time span. Over a period of time it will eventually have an effect on almost all of the functions of the brain such as how a person acts, judgment, memory, language and movement.

Because this disease takes an extended amount of time to fully develop it is divided into stages based on how severe the individuals’ cognitive abilities are affected. There are seven stages of Alzheimer’s disease categorized as follows:

Stage 1 – Normal
Stage 2 – Early Forgetfulness
Stage 3 – Early Confusion
Stage 4 – Late Confusion
Stage 5 – Early Dementia
Stage 6 – Middle Dementia
Stage 7 – Late Dementia

Stage 1 is used to describe a normal adult who shows none of the signs or symptoms of any kind or deterioration in mental capabilities. In general this stage can be any normal average person with a healthy mind.

In the second of the stages of Alzheimer’s disease there are only mild signs of the disease that most often present themselves as occasionally forgetting things such as where they put something or the name of someone they know well. Often this stage is contributed to simple old age.

In stages 3 and 4 some of the signs of alzheimer’s disease become more apparent and may be detectable to close family members or medical professionals. Most common issues may include an individual’s inability to remember names or places and the person may be easily lost or disoriented. Denial is a defense mechanism that begins to surface in this stage.

Stages 5-7 include the onset of different aspects of dementia with the effects being mild at first and steadily increasing over time. When a person reaches this stage they are still able to perform normal activities such as feeding themselves or going to the bathroom but may forget previously well remembered information such as major events in their lives. In most cases it is no longer safe for the individual to live alone once they reach the beginning of the dementia stages.

In the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease a person slowly deteriorates to the point that they no longer remember or recognize familiar people including family and become agitated easily as well as frequently disoriented. In these stages of AD family has generally made plans to prevent an individual from being alone as it is apparent that they have become a danger to themselves. It is common for people in this stage of the disease to become angry easily when they are unable to remember something or think they don’t know the people around them.

Many people see alcoholism as a choice that people make for themselves. They tend to think that people drink because they want to or that they can just stop whenever they choose. In most circumstances this is simply not the case. Alcoholism is a disease and many individuals who are subjected to this disease do not have the ability to simply stop. Even though they may choose to stop many times it is necessary to have outside help in order to do this. One such way of obtaining help in getting alcoholism under control is through alcohol abuse treatment.

In most cases the hardest part for an alcoholic in making the decision to get treatment for this disease is admitting they have a problem. One thing that makes this difficult is the fact that many alcoholics deny that they are out of control and need help. This is the first step in getting treatment called denial. Almost every alcoholic goes through this in the beginning some much longer than others.

The next step in the process is determining what kind of help you are willing to accept. There are different types of treatment available including inpatient, outpatient and weekly meetings. There are other treatments available as well but these are often the most common.

There are several stages of alcohol abuse treatment including detoxification, outpatient, partial and inpatient. How treatment is determined depends on the severity of the disease and how much family support is available to aid in this treatment.

Detoxification is the process in which an individual stops the consumption of alcohol altogether all at once. This process is generally done with constant monitoring by medical professionals due to the effects of the withdrawal process.

In an outpatient setting a person is allowed to attend group or individual meetings or counseling sessions on a weekly basis. In some cases this may be done more than once per week however the individual is usually allowed to return to their own home each day.

Partial programs usually require that you attend sessions in a hospital like facility for several hours each day and go home each evening.

If inpatient alcohol abuse treatment is the course that is determined to be in a person’s best interests it consists of the individual remaining in a hospital like facility much like being in the hospital usually for a predetermined amount of time. In some cases progress is evaluated at specific intervals to determine a person’s ability to maintain the remainder of their treatment in a less professional setting such as inpatient or partial programs and eventually they can work down to weekly or twice weekly meetings.

Regardless of what method of treatment is chosen there are benefits to each one and it really depends on the person and the severity of the circumstances which one will be most beneficial and the most effective in each particular case. Once a treatment plan is determined the most important factor in your treatment is you and how well you respond to the chosen treatment.

Every day many people abuse alcohol in one way or another. This has been going on for many years and has steadily increased over the years. There are many alcohol abuse effects that may impact the lives of individuals in numerous different ways.

There are different types of effects that alcohol abuse may have on a person including physical and psychological. Some of these signs may not be immediately noticed by strangers but can most likely be visible to family or close friends who know a person very well.

The psychological effects of alcohol abuse can be devastating not only to the person that is experiencing these effects directly but also to all of those around them. In the beginning a person may think they have the problem under control but what many people don’t understand is that alcohol abuse is more than just a problem, it is a disease and many times this disease is very hard to fight. Continued alcohol abuse typically results in alcoholism and this is often impossible to maintain without help. When alcoholism becomes an issue the first reaction to anyone that may suggest a problem is usually denial. The abuser will say things like they have the ability to stop drinking at any time or that they do not really have a problem it just makes them feel better. The truth of the matter is that many alcoholics dealing with alcohol abuse effects continue to drink because they simply can’t control themselves. This is why many individuals in this situation end up going to treatment facilities that specialize in helping alcoholics see the problem and thus do something to help correct the problem. In many cases mental problems such as depression or anxiety contribute to this problem because the individual thinks they feel better when they are under the influence of alcohol. This is a common misconception because although it may seem like the problems go away while a person is drinking when the effects of that wear off the problems are still there and eventually must be faced and dealt with.

Aside from the psychological aspect of alcohol abuse there is another serious issue related to alcohol abuse effects and that is the physical aspect of the disease. Not only does the abuse of alcohol change the way you think about things but it also changes many things in your body. Excessive drinking over a prolonged period of time can cause serious damage to your body that can come in many forms. Some of these include different diseases and cancers that can affect the liver, pancreas and many other regions of the body. The more you drink over an extended period of time the more negative effects this will have on your body. It is very important that a person pays attention to any signs or symptoms that may indicate that there is a problem however the best way to avoid this is to refrain from becoming so dependent on alcohol that it gets to that level.

Allergy can affect anyone and anytime. It is very hard to distinguish the elements that can cause allergies because, some people have very weird allergies. Few people might have allergy to rose flowers or some might face allergies of new shoes. But, let me tell you these weird allergies are not new, it is just that we neglect the ingredient and focus on the objects . People may be allergic to pollen seeds of rose, due to which they get affected by allergies.

Actually, allergy is can be explained as over reaction of the immune system to any particular substance that might be safe to numerous other people. These antibodies discharge chemicals in our bloodstream, which further fight against ‘allergens’.

Three types of allergies are most common and harmful to human health. These allergies easily affect kids as, they possess fragile immune system.
Kids are prone to eat anything that comes their ways. Certain food items may not be welcomed by their bodies. Thus, they suffer from allergies. It is necessary to look at these symptoms seriously as, kids are completely unaware with all such issues.
