Miracle Woman and the Giant Tumor

Doctors may have just removed what can be called the world’s largest malignant tumor. This tumor was growing inside the woman from Argentina and had probably been growing there for the last 18 months.

The tumor was located in the 54 year old woman’s womb, and was taken out at a hospital near the capital, Buenos Aires.

The womb is said to be especially hospitable an environment for foreign growths. These generally tend to occur in middle life, and are generally fibroid or cancerous in nature.

In some cases, what started out as fibroids might turn into malignant tumors after a period of time.

The Miraculous Case

The woman got the 8.7 pound heavy growth removed from her womb during an operation that took a good four hours to complete. The unnamed patient was said to be discharged at weighing 7 pounds lighter than what she was admitted.

According to medics, this may well have been the heaviest and biggest tumor to ever be removed in the world. According to the lead surgeon, Dr. Oscar Lopez, it was unlike anything he’d ever seen before in 35 years of his medical service.

According to medical literature, a giant tumor would weigh around 8.8 pounds. There hadn’t been reference to a larger tumor ever in medical history. To make things simpler, in layman’s terms, the tumor weighed the size of a four year old boy. It was almost like this woman had been pregnant, that too with quintuplets, all this time.

The diameter of the tumor is said to be close to that of the oil cans that are generally sold at oil stations.

The woman comes from the town of Lomas de Zamora, which lies on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. She had constantly been suffering from abdominal growth for the last one and a half years. She had severe difficulty in everyday mundane tasks like bending over to tie her shoe laces, or just taking a leisurely walk.

The lady is now back home, hale and hearty, and says she is happy to be fine. She was in hospital for five days following the surgery. The surgeons had to cut through her abdominal wall and had to separate her intestines and bladder. They cut out her ovaries, uterus and the big tumor.
