Bestow reverence on your child for whatever he or she is. Every child is a special gift of god and possesses distinct traits and strengthens. Though, they might not be the ones you had chosen for your kid. Still, you need to respect his special qualities and boost him to excel in things he is good in. Rejoice in his happiness and help him surmount things he is weak in, if not this, then at least try to accept his weaknesses. You cannot force any kid to adapt things, he is not into. Alike a normal human adult, the child will also find it distressing to fit into another’s shoes. You have to accept the fact that one child can’t shape himself in things he wasn’t made for.

Control your own depression

Before, you help out your kid to get out of depression, it is essential for you to come out of your depression. It has been found that children of depressed parents themselves suffer a much high rate of depression. So, if you want to shield your kid against the disorder, first muzzle your own depression.

Secured home life

Maintain a peaceful and merry ambiance in home. This will help your kid in a big way. This is because kids become competent and handle their disappointments and troubles of life, when they are assured of calmness and steadiness at home. You can maintain a steady environment only if you manage all things well. A secured ambiance can be achieved by managing a particular routine for waking up, meals, homework, playtime, bed time. Don’t be too rash; try to set practicable rules which can be followed. Also, while you have enforced them, don’t follow them too strictly. For instance: if your child breaks rule and you punish him constantly for that, then the kid might get frustrated and feel as if he can’t do anything rightly.

Enhance your child’s self-confidence

Encourage your kid’s self-worth. This can work positively for your kid, ultimately it can help him combat challenges posed by depression. Your boosting can supercharge your kid and he won’t be gripped by the clutches of depression. But please, you don’t have to admire his every little achievement for instance: the home run he stroked in yesterday’s game.

Give your child some space

You need to give some freedom to your child. You can’t protect your child every time he faces defeat or passes through some difficult moments. This will not weaken your child, but on the contrary give some knowledge to deal with difficulties. As the phrase rightly says “Unless and until you don’t push them in the swimming pool, they won’t learn to swim.” You have to let them handle life’s lower moments so that they learn the skills they need to cope with troublesome situations.
